Nine new COVID-19 case in London-area

Health officials in London-Middlesex reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

The latest cases bring the regional case count to 1,031.

There were also 24 recoveries reported on Saturday. So far, 901 individuals in the London-area have recovered from the virus. Fifty-eight people have passed away from COVID-19 in the region. On Thursday, the Middlesex-London Health Unit reported the first death related to the virus since June.

There are currently 10 institutional outbreaks in the region. On Saturday, the health unit also declared an outbreak at a Starbucks location in London.

Meanwhile, Southwestern Public Health, the health unit covering St. Thomas, Woodstock and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported three new cases on Saturday, bringing the case count to 290.

Across the province, 805 additional cases were reported on Saturday. According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, 44,700 tests were completed over the past 24 hours.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
