COVID-19 case confirmed at Chatham elementary school

A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Tecumseh Public School in Chatham.

A COVID-19 advisory message was posted on the school's website on Wednesday.

"Chatham-Kent Public Health has notified the Lambton Kent District School Board that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Tecumseh Public School community," read the advisory. "Chatham-Kent Public Health is working closely with the school community and is contacting any individuals [students and staff] who may have been in potential contact with the virus."

According to the message, if you have not been contacted by public health officials then your child has not been in contact with the confirmed case.

The school remains open at this time

All parents and guardians are reminded to continue to monitor their children for COVID-19 symptoms and keep them at home if they are ill.

CK Public Health also reported five new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Chatham-Kent now has a total of 12 active cases. Four of the cases are community spread, five are a close contact of a case, one was exposed at a workplace and it's unknown how the other two were exposed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
