Nine additional COVID-19 cases in London-area

London-Middlesex reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

The latest cases bring the regional case count to 1,094.

Nine additional recoveries were also reported on Sunday. So far, 972 individuals in the London-area have recovered from the virus while 60 people have died from the virus in the region since the pandemic began. The most recent death, a woman in her fifties, was reported on Saturday.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit covering St. Thomas, Woodstock and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported three new cases on Sunday with the case count now sitting at 308.

Elsewhere, Ontario's daily case count reached above 1,000 for the first time.

Provincial health officials reported 1,042 new cases on Sunday and 736 new recoveries.

According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, 309 of Sunday's cases were in Toronto, 289 in Peel, 117 in York Region, 80 in Ottawa and 52 in Durham.
