CK police arrest alleged drug dealer after searching vehicle

A 32-year-old Chatham man is facing more than a dozen charges after police allegedly found some illegal drugs and a handgun in the trunk of his vehicle.

Chatham-Kent police said they executed the search warrant in Chatham on Thursday, adding that they saw the man leave his residence and watched him drive to a local motel.

Officers then approached the man in the parking lot and took him into custody.

Police said while they were arresting the man, they found three cell phones on him along with a large amount of cash.

When officers searched his vehicle, they allegedly found and seized some suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine with an estimated combined street value of $76,600.

Officers also seized a handgun and some ammunition, electronic digital scales, and a large amount of cash from the vehicle.

The accused was charged with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking along with several weapons-related offences. He was also charged with several counts of failing to comply with his release and probation conditions.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
