COVID case at Port Lambton elementary school

The Lambton Kent District School Board is reporting a case of COVID-19 linked to Riverview Central School.

On its website, the school board indicated there's been a confirmed case among its staff or students at the Port Lambton elementary school. The school is open.

Lambton Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade said they knew there would be cases but so far there hasn't been significant transmission in the affected schools.

"We've been fairly lucky with those cases, we've not seen ongoing transmission from those cases into the school setting," said Ranade. "I'm cautiously reassured about that but of course it's a setting that we continue to keep our eyes on."

The public school board has also reported cases at three Chatham-Kent area schools.

To date, no cases have been linked to any schools within the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.

Lambton Public Health reported two new confirmed cases of the virus Sunday.
