Owen Sound extends late payment date for final tax installment

The City of Owen Sound is suspending late-payment penalties as the final 2020 tax installment due date of December 15 approaches.

People will have until January 15, 2021, to pay without any late payment penalties.

Residents can find out their final installment amount on their Final Tax Bill that was mailed at the end of June.

Earlier this year, the City of Owen Sound assisted ratepayers in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic by deferring both installment due dates for final property tax payments. The first final property tax installment due date was extended from June 30 to September 30 and the second final property tax installment due date was extended from September 30 to December 15. Late payment penalties were suspended until July 1.

Property taxes are levied and collected by the City to allow for the City, the County of Grey, and all School Boards to deliver services to property owners within the City of Owen Sound.

There are several payment options available to ratepayers, including in person at City Hall, mailing a cheque, using the drop-box located at the front door of City Hall, at the bank, or through online banking.
