UPDATE: Hwy. 401 crash sends one person to hospital

One person has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 near Tilbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police said a collision involving two cars and a tractor-trailer was reported at 12:05 a.m. on Friday.

As a result, the Hwy. 401 westbound lanes at Queen's Line (Highway 2) were closed for about six hours. The westbound lanes reopened to traffic around 6:15 a.m.

OPP said the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released once it's available.
