Case of COVID-19 identified at Tecumseh school

A positive COVID-19 result was identified at a school in Tecumseh over the weekend.

On Sunday, the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECSDB) announced that the positive case is linked to Tecumseh Vista Secondary School. The high school previously reported a case of COVID-19 on November 23.

According to the school board's website, students and staff are required to conduct a daily COVID self-assessment every day before entering the school/workplace. If a student or staff member falls ill, the school board will notify members of the school community in cooperation with the Windsor Essex Health Unit, who will only contact those who are considered close contacts of the sick individual.

Elsewhere, the school board has also announced that students will be permitted to return to F.W Begley Public School in Windsor on Wednesday, following the school's closure due to a COVID outbreak on November 23.

The GECDSB has confirmed 87 cases of the virus since the school year began in September. More information on active cases can be found here.
