COVID-19 outbreak at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare worsens

There are now 44 COVID-19 cases in an outbreak at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare in Windsor.

The hospital confirmed 30 healthcare workers have now tested positive for the virus, along with 14 patients.

However, it said it has been difficult to say for certain all of those cases are related to the outbreak on the third floor of the rehabilitation tower.

"We will be reporting all positive results, although they may or may not be related to the outbreak," said a statement from the hospital.

Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare said at the end of the outbreak and the investigation, it will make that clear.

Starting Tuesday, the hospital will start readmitting patients on 2N in Emara, but all admissions to other inpatient units remain on pause. That includes mental health.

The outbreak there, and on the seventh floor of Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus, was declared over a week ago.
