Outbreak declared at St. Mary's French Immersion

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has declared an outbreak at a local Catholic school.

The outbreak has been identified within a cohort at St. Mary's Catholic French Immersion. The health unit says there are three confirmed cases within a single classroom.

An outbreak is defined by the health unit as any instance where at least two people are infected within a school, and if there is evidence that at least one of the cases was directly connected to the school.

The entire class had previously been asked to self-isolate for 14 days. The outbreak is currently limited to just this one group.

As of Tuesday morning, the Windsor-Essex Catholic Dsitrict School Board reported seven confirmed cases affecting a total of seven buildings. One other outbreak was previously reported by the board, at L.A. Desmarais Catholic Elementary in Windsor.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
