First shipment of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Canada

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that the first shipments of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine have arrived in Canada.

The delivery comes one day after Health Canada approved the vaccine.

Canada is expected to receive 168,000 doses of the vaccine before the end of December, this is only a small portion of the 40 million that has already been promised.

"This is another big step in our national vaccine rollout. But it doesn’t mean we can let up just yet." Trudeau said in a tweet.

The arrival of Moderna's vaccine will give Canadians living in northern, remote, and Indigenous communities an earlier opportunity to be vaccinated as it is easier to ship and store than the Pfizer Bio-Tech vaccine.
