Another single digit increase in COVID cases Thursday

The active COVID-19 caseload went down again in Sarnia-Lambton Thursday.

Lambton Public Health reported another 63 resolved cases in its daily update, for a total of 831. There were five more confirmed cases, bringing the total case count to 1,090 since March 25, 2020. The number of active infections is now at 231, down from 289 on Wednesday. The death toll remained unchanged at 28.

The health unit continues to monitor a total of 15 outbreaks, seven in long-term care facilities, seven in workplaces and one at Confederation Central School.

Bluewater Health still has seven COVID-positive patients in hospital, two are in the Intensive Care Unit.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
