The Canada-United States border will stay closed to non-essential travel until at least February 21, 2021.
Federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday.
We are extending restrictions on non-essential travel with the United States until February 21st, 2021. Our Government will continue to ensure the safety of Canadians against #COVID19 and base our decisions on the best public health advice available.

Border crossings, including the Blue Water Bridge, have been closed to all but essential traffic since March 21, 2020. Essential traffic includes health care workers employed in Michigan and truck drivers delivering essential goods between the two countries.
Restrictions were set to expire on January 21.
To date, the State of Michigan has reported nearly 570,000 cases of COVID-19 and over 14,000 deaths. Ontario has had 227,000 cases and over 5,000 deaths.
