Canada-US border to stay closed another month

The Canada-United States border will stay closed to non-essential travel until at least February 21, 2021.

Federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday.

Border crossings, including the Blue Water Bridge, have been closed to all but essential traffic since March 21, 2020. Essential traffic includes health care workers employed in Michigan and truck drivers delivering essential goods between the two countries.

Restrictions were set to expire on January 21.

To date, the State of Michigan has reported nearly 570,000 cases of COVID-19 and over 14,000 deaths. Ontario has had 227,000 cases and over 5,000 deaths.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
