Semi-automatic rifle, drugs seized during bust in Chatham

Four Chatham residents are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police searched a residence on Gray Street in Chatham and found a rifle and some illegal drugs.

Police said members of the CKPS Intelligence Unit teamed up with the Critical Incident Team to execute a search warrant at the residence Monday afternoon.

Officers said during that search, police seized approximately $1,300 worth of suspected methamphetamine along with some digital scales, packaging material, and cell phones.

Police also found a switchblade and a loaded SKS non-restricted semi-automatic rifle with an overcapacity magazine and an attached bayonet along with some ammunition.

Officers said a 42-year-old Chatham man, a 40-year-old Chatham man, a 28-year-old Chatham man, and a 29-year-old Chatham woman were all arrested and charged in connection with the case. They were all taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
