COVID numbers continue to drop, active case count below 50

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton has dropped below 50 now.

Lambton Public Health reported just two new confirmed cases of the virus Friday, bringing the total since late March to 1,854.

The number of resolved cases increased by eight to 1,764, lowering the active case count to 49 from 55 on Thursday. Active cases peaked on January 5 at 323.

There were still six active workplace and long-term care/retirement home outbreaks Friday.

Bluewater Health had five positive patients in hospital, down three from Thursday.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
