Single digit hike in Sarnia-Lambton COVID cases Monday

After an uptick of 11 Sunday, the number of new COVID-19 infections in Sarnia-Lambton fell back into the single digits Monday.

Lambton Public Health reported five new confirmed cases for a total of 1,877 since the end of March.

Resolved cases increased by eight to 1,788 and the death toll was unchanged at 42, lowering the number of active cases by three to 47.

The area's 42nd death was reported Sunday. The health unit said Monday that an individual in the 70-plus age range died in hospital Friday, February 5.

Bluewater Health reported four positive patients in hospital Monday, down one.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
