16 additional COVID-19 cases in London-area, zero deaths

The Middlesex London Health Unit reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday in the region.

The total number of cases in the London-area is now at 6,084 overall with 5,786 recoveries.

There have now been no COVID-19 related deaths reported in the region for a week straight. The death toll remains at 181 as of Saturday.

The health unit is reporting seven outbreaks at institutions in London-Middlesex. The latest outbreak was declared on Friday at Peoplecare Oak Crossing while outbreaks continue at Chelsey Park, Dearness Home, Middlesex Terrace, Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care Building and Westmount Gardens.

Elsewhere, Southwestern Public Health logged just two new cases in Elgin and Oxford counties, bringing the total to 2,455.

Across Ontario, 1,228 additional cases were reported on Saturday as well as 28 new deaths and 1,313 recoveries. Overall, Ontario has seen a total of 291,999 cases since the pandemic began.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
