COVID-19 contributed to a Wellington County death

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 69 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Friday, for a total of 169 active cases.

Five people are in hospital, and 104 deaths are related to the virus. There are six workplace outbreaks.

In Wellington County, there were seven new cases added over the weekend, for a total of 24 active cases. One person is in hospital, and the death toll from the pandemic increased by one to 33.

Outbreaks continue at Caressant Care Long Term Care in Arthur, which has seen at total of 19 fatalities, and Wellington Terrace in Fergus, where two staff members tested positive. And Royal Terrace in Palmerston continues outbreak protocols after one staff member tested positive. That outbreak was declared February 24.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
