COVID cases climb in Midwestern Ontario

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has been notified of a death related to COVID-19. The individual, a male in his 70’s with an address in Grey Bruce, died Friday. He had been in isolation in hospital.

The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit reported seven new cases of COVID-19 Friday, three in Owen Sound, two in Hanover, one in Chatsworth, and one in South Bruce Peninsula. There are 54 active cases.   Of those active cases, 15 have been identified as variants of concern.  In all, 29 cases involving  variants of concern have been confirmed in Grey Bruce.  Four people are hospitalized with the virus.  The death toll from the pandemic is now at four.

Huron Perth Public Health added five new cases of COVID-19 Friday, four in Stratford and one in Perth South. There are now 15 active cases. there are no hospitalization due to COVID-19. There are still six variants of concern, and the death toll stands at 50.

Public health officials in Wellington County added just one new case today, and there are 23 active cases. 35 residents have succumbed to the virus.
