Third home invasion suspect turns himself in to police in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police have made a third arrest in connection with a violent home invasion at an apartment in Chatham.

Police were looking for the man after three men allegedly forced their way into an apartment on March 23, 2021 and got into a physical altercation with a 50-year-old Chatham man who lived there, which ended with the victim suffering injuries that required medical attention.

Officers were able to track down and arrest two suspects in connection with the case over the past week.

Police said the third suspect, an 18-year-old Leamington man, showed up at police headquarters Monday morning and turned himself in.

He was charged with breaking and entering to commit aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
