COVID-19 numbers creep up in Midwestern Ontario Thursday

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added seven new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. There were two in Georgian Bluffs, one in Kincardine, one in Northern Bruce Peninsula and one in Owen Sound. Two cases were transferred from York Region to Blue Mountains. There are 68 active cases, and 17 active variants of concern. In all, 46 cases have been identified as variants of concern. There are 556 high risk contacts.

Public health officials in Wellington County added five new cases Thursday and reported 26 active cases. There are two active cases in Minto, three in Mapleton and three in Wellington North.

Huron Perth Public health added five new cases of COVID-19, one in Stratford, one in West Perth, two in North Perth and one in Goderich. There are 15 active cases. Currently no one is in hospital with the virus.  There are now 13 variants of concern that have been identified.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
