Sudden death in Dutton deemed a homicide

Elgin County provincial police say a death reported in Dutton over the weekend was a murder.

Just before 4 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a home on Duff Line for a sudden death. Officials say one person was found dead, while a second person in the home sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Late Monday evening, OPP identified the deceased as 45-year-old Bradley Shane Chrisjohn of the Oneida Nation of the Thames.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Police believe the death is an isolated incident and says there is no threat to public safety.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
