Thursday's COVID-19 report adds new cases in Midwestern Ontario

Huron Perth Public Health added eight new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, but referred one to another health unit. There were four new cases in Stratford, three in St. Marys and one in South Huron. There are now 27 active cases. 25 variants of concern have now been identified in the region. One person is in hospital.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph added 45 new cases, six of them in Wellington. There are 50 active cases in Wellington. There are six active cases in Wellington North, two in Minto and one in Mapleton.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
