Man accused of setting fire to RV with family member inside

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly set an RV trailer on fire in Raleigh Township while two of his family members were still inside.

Police said emergency crews were called to the scene late Wednesday afternoon, adding that their investigation showed the man had intentionally set the vehicle on fire.

Officers said the family members who were inside the vehicle at the time of the fire were both able to escape safely, adding that when one of the man's family members tried to extinguish the fire, the man allegedly assaulted him.

Police said the fire also spread to a nearby SUV -- the total damage was estimated at $10,000.

The man accused of starting the fire was arrested early Friday morning and charged with assault and two counts of arson with disregard for human life.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
