Impaired driving charge laid after crash claims Dresden teen's life

Chatham-Kent police have charged a 19-year-old Dresden woman with impaired driving after a single-vehicle crash on Longwoods Road east of Chatham that claimed the life of her 19-year-old passenger.

Police said they were called to the scene near Centre Side Road just outside of Louisville shortly after 12 a.m. Monday, adding that the 19-year-old woman -- who is also from Dresden -- was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with minor injuries.

Investigators believed the driver had been drinking, so she was arrested for impaired driving causing death.
