Grey Bruce Health Unit confirms nursery school outbreak and adds a dozen new COVID-19 cases

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak associated with the Queen of Hearts Nursery School in Owen Sound. Three confirmed cases and a number of probable cases are identified with this outbreak.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit also reported five confirmed cases and one probable case of COVID-19, associated with Georgian Bay Community School in Meaford. There is evidence transmission was the result of social gatherings among the high school aged youth and not related to in-school activities. Additional testing may identify other individuals also associated with this cluster.

The Grey Bruce Health unit added a dozen new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, plus one case referred to another health unit. There are 90 active cases including 22 active variants of concern. In all there have been 94 variants detected.  One person is in hospital in Grey Bruce with the virus, and another local resident is hospitalized with COVID-19 outside the region. There are 497 active high risk contacts.
