Sarnia-Lambton records fourth COVID-related death in a week

Lambton Public Health reported another COVID-19-related death Tuesday, the fourth in the last week.

The health unit said an individual in their 80s passed away in hospital bringing the local death toll since the pandemic began to 54.

There were eight new confirmed infections Tuesday for a total of 3,058. Of those, 2,889 are considered resolved, an increase of 19. The active case count declined again to 115, down 12 from Monday.

The health unit said active outbreaks decreased by two over the last 24 hours for a total of just two. Afton Park Place long-term care home in Sarnia is still in outbreak with three residents and two staff having been infected. There's one active outbreak declared April 7 at an unnamed workplace where seven cases have been reported. As of Tuesday there were no longer any active outbreaks in Lambton schools.

Bluewater Health has 11 COVID-positive patients, up one.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
