New COVID-19 case count lower in Midwestern Ontario Tuesday

Huron Perth Public Health added three new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, two in North Huron and one in Goderich.  There are 44 active cases, and 54 variants of concern have been identified throughout the pandemic.  One person is in hospital fighting the virus, and 202 people are high risk contacts.

Public health officials added four new cases in Wellington County, and reported 106 active cases.  There are four active cases in Minto, eleven in Mapleton, and 16 in Wellington North.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added three new cased of COVID-19 Tuesday, in Southgate, South Bruce and Georgian Bluffs. There are 143 active cases, and 68 active variants of concerns. Four people are hospitalized in Grey Bruce with the virus, and two Grey Bruce residents are being cared for at hospitals outside the region. Another three cases were transferred from other Health Unit’s to local Intensive Care Units, but those numbers are not reflected in local case counts, as the cases will be counted by the patients' home health units.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
