Police find brick of cocaine during search in Chatham

A 23-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after he was arrested during a drug bust in Chatham on Wednesday.

Chatham-Kent police said members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a search warrant on a Chatham man's residence and vehicle and seized approximately $36,000 worth of suspected cocaine along with two cell phones, some digital scales, and a large amount of Canadian cash.

Officers said the 23-year-old was arrested and charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was later released from custody pending a future court date.

Wanted man arrested during disturbance call

A 26-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm after police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Police said during their investigation Wednesday night, they learned that a man at the residence was wanted in connection with a domestic related incident last month.

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Speeders stopped in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police handed out a dozen tickets for speeding during a traffic safety blitz on Longwoods Road and Bloomfield Road in Chatham Wednesday morning.

Officers said 12 motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
