Midwestern Ontario continues to see new cases of COVID-19

28 new cases of COVID-19 were added in Midwestern Ontario Thursday.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added nine new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, and reported 85 active cases, including 26 active variants of concern. New cases were reported in Owen Sound, West Grey, Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, Grey Highlands, Kincardine and Southgate. Three residents are hospitalized with the virus, and seven other patients from outside of the region are being treated in Grey Bruce hospitals.

Huron Perth Public Health added five new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, two in North Perth, one in Stratford and two in Central Huron. There are 35 active cases and 19 active variants of concern. one resident is in hospital.

There are 19 people in hospital across the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health region, with another ten in the ICU.  53 new cases were added Thursday, 14 of them in Wellington County. There are 100 active cases in Wellington.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
