Saying yes to Encore paid off for Wallaceburg woman

A Wallaceburg woman is not a magician by trade but she has managed to turn one dollar into $100,000.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said that Brenda Foster of Wallaceburg played Encore in the April 9, 2021 Lotto Max draw and won $100,000 by matching the last six of seven numbers in exact order.

"I'm a regular lottery player," Foster said. "I like playing instant tickets, but I always switch it up."

The 64-year-old married mother of one was at the store when she decided to check her ticket.

"All these bells and whistles went off and I saw $100,000 appear on the screen," she said. "I was in disbelief!"

Foster plans to pay some bills, help her family, and complete some home renovations with her winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Jimmy G's Variety on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.

Friday night's Lotto Max draw has a jackpot of $70 million and an estimated 29 additional $1 million Maxmillions prizes for a total of $99 million in top prizes to be won.
