Parkhill goalie becomes first female selected in OHL Draft

A Parkhill native has made history by becoming the first female ever chosen in the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

Taya Currie was drafted by the Sarnia Sting in the 14th round, 267th overall, on Saturday.

The 16-year-old goaltender has played with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs AAA boys’ team since she was in minor-atom, and has been touted as one of Alliance Hockey's top goaltenders.

The OHL Draft began on Friday with rounds one to three, and continued on Saturday with rounds four to 15.
