UPDATE: Chatham-Kent police investigate suspicious package

Chatham-Kent police have reopened a section of Wellington Street East in Chatham after getting reports of a suspicious package.

Police said the package was reported outside of a building early Monday afternoon.

As a result, Wellington Street East was closed between Adelaide Street South and William Street South.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police reported that the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit attended the scene, assessed and removed the suspicious package. Wellington Street East has since been reopened.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
