No injuries after house fire in Chatham

Damage is pegged around $200,000 after a house fire in Chatham on Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from a home on Beth Crescent.

When crews arrived, they confirmed that heavy smoke was coming from the windows of the residence. Firefighters were able to quickly get inside the home to knock down the fire and contain it to the kitchen.

However, smoke and high heat caused extensive damage to the entire home.

According to Chatham-Kent Fire, the cause of the blaze is being listed as accidental and no injuries were reported.
