Weapons related charges laid following multi-unit police action

An Erieau man faces several weapons related charges following a joint investigation by Lambton OPP and Chatham-Kent Police.

Officers, including members of the OPP Forensic Identification Services, executed a search warrant at an Erieau Road address in Chatham-Kent Thursday, August 5.

Police seized a firearm as well as a quantity of illicit drugs. OPP say a 36-year-old man was taken into custody without incident.

J. Drew Bliss is charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with trafficking in firearm, weapon, device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm ammunition, public mischief and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Bliss appeared in Sarnia court and was remanded into custody until Monday, August 9.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
