UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warnings called off

The threat of severe thunderstorms has moved past the region as warnings are no longer in effect.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent, and Rondeau Park around 2:15 p.m. Friday. However, by 4:10 p.m., all warnings had ended.

Forecasters were tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms that were moving east from Florence to Pain Court.

Winds were expected to gust up to 80 kilometres per hour at one point with up to 50 millimetres of rain.

The risk of thunderstorms came as a heat warning remains in effect for most of southwestern Ontario.
