Break-in at business in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in at Imperial Auto Body on Riverview Drive in Chatham.

Police said they were notified of the incident on Wednesday, adding that it's believed the break-in took place sometime around 10 p.m. on September 14, 2021 and it's not clear yet what was taken.

Chatham man accused of stealing pot plants

A 51-year-old Chatham man is facing a handful of charges after police allegedly found him carrying around someone else's marijuana plants.

Police said they arrested the man after they received a call about a suspicious person stealing marijuana plants on Queen Street in Chatham very early Thursday morning.

Officers said they found the man a short distance from the residence in possession of some marijuana plants, adding that he was later charged with theft, possession of stolen property, mischief, trespassing, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

He was taken back to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
