Missing man found dead on Walpole Island

A missing person on Walpole Island has been found dead.

Walpole Island police and Ontario Provincial Police in Lambton County said the man was reported missing on Saturday morning and was later discovered deceased.

Investigators said Basil John, 65, of Walpole Island wandered from a disabled motor vehicle on Blackshack Road during the night and was found a short distance from Blackshack Road.

John was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators are not deeming the death to be suspicious at this time, but anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
