Chatham woman dies after train hits pedestrian

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a fatal train crash in Chatham involving a VIA Rail passenger train and a pedestrian.

Police said they were called to the scene along the CN Railway on Park Avenue West near Wedgewood Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said a 42-year-old Chatham woman was pronounced dead at the scene along with her dog. A post-mortem is scheduled to take place today in London.
