Active COVID-19 case count nears 100

The local active COVID-19 case count is nearing 100.

On Friday, Lambton Public Health reported 26 new confirmed infections for a total of 3,887 since the start of the pandemic.

The health unit also reported 10 more resolved cases, increasing the active case count by 16 to 95.

The death toll is unchanged at 70, and there are four active outbreaks in the community.

Since it was closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the health unit did not provide an update on Thursday.

Bluewater Health has two COVID-positive patients in hospital, up from zero on Thursday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
