Maroons edge Flyers 5-4

The Maroons topped the Leamington Flyers 5-4 in Chatham on Saturday.

Bhrett Hibbert scored 12:28 into the first period to take the lead for Chatham but the Flyers tied the game with a goal early in the second.

Cameron Welch, Lucas Fancy, and Cameron Symons scored back-to-back goals in the second to give Chatham a three-goal lead. Leamington added another goal late in the frame to bring the score to 4-2 for the Maroons.

Leamington made a comeback by scoring twice in the third to tie the game with just over five minutes left to play. Fancy scored his second goal of the night late in the period to clinch the win for the Maroons.

Maroons goaltender Luka Dobrich made 34 saves out of 38 shots on net.

The Maroons are at home again on Sunday to take on the Sarnia Legionnaires at 3:30 p.m.
