In-person public meeting set for Wheatley residents

Wheatley residents who were affected by the August explosion will have another chance to have their questions answered.

A public meeting will be held at the Talbot Trail Golf Club located at 790 Talbot Trail on Wednesday, November 3 at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting is being hosted by the Active Citizens Of Wheatley.

The panel will include Mayor Darrin Canniff, Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire, and West-Kent Councillors Melissa Harrigan and Mark Authier.

Seating at the in-person event will be limited to 150 people inside, said officials. However, a sound system will be set up outside to accommodate an additional 80 people.

Attendance for the in-person session will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority seating reserved for residents and businesses from the evacuation zone.

Proof of vaccination will be required for entry and social distancing will be observed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
