Flyers edge Maroons 3-2 in shootout

The Chatham Maroons fell 3-2 against the Leamington Flyers during a shootout at Thursday's away game.

Both teams were slow to start with no scores put on the board throughout the first period.

During second, the Maroons sprung to action with a goal by Craig Spence at 6:52. The Flyers had a delayed response but also scored a goal with just 30 seconds left in the period to tie things up 1-1 heading into the final frame.

Going into the third period, Leamington attempted to edge Chatham with another goal. Maroons skater Lucas Fancy was able to tie the game up again with a second goal for the team at 16:38.

With no other goals, the teams stayed tied 2-2 forcing the game into overtime.

Neither team managed to score during OT and the teams then headed into a shootout. Unfortunately, the Maroons weren't successful in getting any shots into the Flyers' net, dropping a 3-2 decision against Leamington.

Maroons goalie Luka Dobrich made 33 saves out of 35 shots on net. The team will get the chance to redeem themselves when they take on the LaSalle Vipers at home on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
