COVID-19 infections increase in Midwestern Ontario

The rate of new COVID-19 infections is increasing in parts of Midwestern Ontario.

Huron Perth Public Health added 22 new cases over the weekend, and reported three residents fighting the virus in hospital. There are 46 active cases, including cases in Stratford, North Perth, West Perth and Perth East. In Huron County, there are active cases in Bluewater, Morris-Turnberry, Goderich, Huron East and South Huron.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reports one COVID-19 patient in the ICU, and 37 new infections since Friday. 20 of those new cases are in Wellington County, including 21 in Mapleton and one in Minto.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added two new cases Monday, and reported 3 residents in hospital with the virus. There are 35 active cases.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
