Maroons beat Nationals 3-2 in overtime

After a close matchup, the Chatham Maroons came out on top during their home game Sunday afternoon against the London Nationals.

It took nearly 20 minutes, but the Maroons scored the first goal of the night courtesy of Connor Paronuzzi at 19:26 into the first period.

Paronuzzi opened up the second period with a goal at the 4:53 mark, the only goal of the period, giving the Maroons a 2-nothing lead.

London came back strong in the third period, scoring twice and tying up the game. With no other goals scored during the third, the action went into overtime.

Colin Whaley scored the gaming winning goal for the Maroons 2:16 into OT.

Maroons goalie Luka Dobrich made 40 saves out of 42 shots on net.

The Maroons have won of four their last six games. The team will have a chance to get their fourth victory in a row when they hit the road to face off against the Strathroy Rockets on Saturday, November 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
