Another COVID death reported at Bluewater Health

There has been another COVID-19 related death at Bluewater Health.

The hospital website was updated Monday and reported the 61st death linked to the virus. Communications Chief Julia Oosterman said the latest death was woman in her 80s.

There are currently six COVID-positive patients at the Sarnia hospital. Oosterman said one of the patients is in the ICU.

Lambton Public Health reported five new confirmed cases and four resolved cases Monday, increasing the active case count to 39.

Since March 2020, there have been 4,368 confirmed infections, of which 4,253 have been deemed resolved, and 76 deaths.

There are three active outbreaks, up from one on Sunday. The latest were declared on Saturday at the Generations Day Care-St. Phillips site in Petrolia and at an unnamed workplace.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
