New COVID-19 cases confirmed in Midwestern Ontario Friday

Huron Perth Public Health added six new cases of COVID-19 Friday. There are 69 active cases, and five people are hospitalized withthe virus in the two counties. New cases were located in Huron East, North Huron, North Perth and Stratford.

Wellington Duffering Guelph Public Health reports one resident in the ICU with COVID-19, and another 27 new cases confirmed Friday. Ten of them were in Wellington. There are 33 active cases, ten in Wellington North, three in Minto and three in Mapleton.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added eight new cases, four in Kincardine, and one in Grey Highlands, Owen Sound, South Bruce Peninsula, and Southgate. There are 54 active cases, and two residents are hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario health officials are reporting 1 031 new COVID-19 cases and four new fatalities. 442 infections involved people who are fully vaccinated.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
