Ridgetown fire causes $300K in damage

Damage is pegged around $300,000 after a structure fire in Ridgetown.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday, Chatham-Kent Fire crews were called to a smoke investigation on Morgan Street near Erie Street North.

Upon arrival, firefighters said they were met with smoke and flames coming from a storage building on the property. The crews initiated an offensive attack and the fire was knocked down quickly however, contents within the building continued to smoulder which made complete extinguishment difficult.

Despite the hefty damage estimate, no injuries were reported. The cause is being listed as accidental.
