Another COVID death at Bluewater Health

The COVID-related death toll at Bluewater Health has increased to 64.

The Sarnia hospital reported the latest death linked to the virus Monday. Hospital officials said the most recent death was a male in his 60s from Lambton County.

There are 15 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, up from 13 on Friday. Of the 15 in hospital, eight are in the intensive care unit and three are on ventilators.

In its daily update, Lambton Public Health reported 15 new confirmed cases and 11 resolved cases, increasing the active case count by four to 160.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 there have been 4,683 confirmed infections, 4,445 recoveries and 78 deaths in Sarnia-Lambton.

There are nine active outbreaks, unchanged from Sunday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
