Salvation Army surpasses fundraising goal

After a slow start, things are looking up for the Salvation Army Chatham Kent Ministries

With a few days to go before their Christmas campaign wraps up, the group announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday that it surpassed its $500,000 fundraising goal.

Over $547,000 has been raised so far. Over $149,000 of that came in through donations at the red kettles, and over $398,000 was raised through the mail and drop-off donations.

On Tuesday, the Salvation Army delivered food and toys, providing help this Christmas to 1,860 individuals, and 632 toy bags to children in Chatham-Kent.

Red kettles will be out in the community until Christmas Eve.
